Cartoon Marathon Doodling @ Peiying Primary

This is a one hour hall seminar that aims to introduce the concept of marathon to P1 and P2 students at Peiying Primary School, but turns out that it also became a contingency program for P3 and P4 students due to rain (they are suppose to run a marathon in school). We are required to teach students how to draw running postures and we came out with the idea of simulating a real marathon race cum a colouring contest for all. They are shown video clips of marathon and an animated route map which they are to imagine their Avatar (they draw a cartoon animal to represent themselves) competing in the race. There are different stages where they need to fulfil a certain activity before they can proceed to the next stage. Of course all activity are about drawing and with some running on the spot to get a feel of the race. At the end of the prize giving ceremony, they even have to do a 'cool down' exercise as a closure for the race. One funny thought, if I can create myself a real life Avatar, I might just skip through my entire RT training in camp:P

Cartoon Caricature: Peying Primary Pri 6 post exam workshop

These primary 6 students are going through a three days (3 hour) workshop learning how to draw caricature. They are taught how to draw portrait, cartoon and manga style caricature in this workshop. On the third day, they are required to draw their friends within a given time frame using black marker pen only. I believe not everyone of us will choose the career path of a professional caricature/artist, but in this one hour, these students became a pro in their own league!

Cartoon Caricature: Nan Chiau Primary Pri 5 student's drawings

Drawing caricature in class and applying the skill outside class sometimes can be...what to say...very AMAZING, especially if we are looking at student's drawing. In classroom learning, we usually do demonstration; gives instruction; throw in some real life simulation (to add excitement) and the students will jump into the drawing, applying what they learn. This time round, I have the opportunity to grade their work and these are some of the drawings that turns me on - a glimpse into their personal life!
