Caricatures of Naval Base Primary School's teachers and their family

These caricatures are for Naval Base Primary School's Navalite Beat 2014 fund raising event. I was invited to school to do caricature of the students and their staffs, and guess what, I raised a total of $385 for the event :)

Rediscover Cartoon Creation (Manga) @ Naval Base Primary School

Rediscover Cartoon Creation is one of my cartooning programme registered under COMIXGURU in the NAC-AEP website. This is the most popular title among the rest of my programme and one that I have delivered to schools for at least 10 years. This programme is suitable for children to young adults and the reasons are because the content of this workshop is designed to free your imagination and to draw out the possibility of creation. How do you free one's imagination? If drawing is an obstacle, then the method/approach to drawing is the solution to move you forward. How do you address the question of creation? The answer lies in what you like and desire most, and that is the motivation/force behind every convincing creation. You materialised what is unseen in your mind onto a piece of paper, and then turn it into a product!

Rediscover Cartoon Creation (Manga) @ Yishun Town Secondary School

How much can you teach in a single session of 3 hours cartoon/manga workshop? Actually...almost everything about drawing a cartoon/manga character, in their level of understanding of course. You don't expect anything fanciful, but just the good old basics of drawing the body, faces, hands, expression and clothes in both the cartoon and manga style. The rest is about how to stimulate their imagination; simulate mental activity that prepares them to visualise the personality of their characters and of course, giving them mind space to express freely without you interfering. The last point is the most important!
